// Fractal Unit ID
Own a Fractal unit we haven't confirmed?
Community captures are how we confirm units on real hardware — a two-minute, read-only capture from your rig is what turns "should work" into confirmed support. Submit yours here.

What is Bloody Finger Software?
An independent software studio that builds AI tools for performance creative work — ad creative review (TheAdBench.AI), browser-based AI video editing (AI Cinema, open source / MIT-licensed), music software for guitarists (AxeBlock EDIT, public beta), and custom builds. Run by a creative director and product designer. Founded 2026, based in Oakland CA. No investors, no advisory board.
Who runs Bloody Finger Software?
A creative director and product designer based in Oakland, CA. No investors, no advisory board.
What AI powers these tools?
Claude (Anthropic). We are an independent third-party developer with no affiliation to Anthropic.
Does Bloody Finger Software store my ads?
No. Ads are processed in real time and not retained. No advertising profiles, no data sales.
What does TheAdBench.AI do?
AI ad creative review for any measurable advertising creative. Deepest calibration on short-form video (TikTok, Reels, Shorts, Facebook, X, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Threads, Vimeo); static social, display, marketplace, search, email, and OOH handled on their own format's terms. Senior-strategist read in under a minute.
Is TheAdBench.AI free?
Yes, there's a free tier — and paid plans for volume. A free account is $0 with no credit card: 3 Quick Checks + 1 Deep Dive + 3 Account Value Scores per day, shareable report URLs, saved history. Without an account you still get 1 Quick Check per day. Pro is $49 per month: 10 Quick Checks + 10 Deep Dives per day, the complete Deep Dive report, credit top-ups past the cap. Agency is $199 per month: everything in Pro, plus brand kit, API access, bulk batch analysis (up to 50 ads), and 5 team seats.
What platforms does TheAdBench.AI support?
18+ platforms including Meta, Google, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Snap, Reddit, Pinterest, Amazon, Apple Search, Microsoft, Spotify, CTV, retail media, Nextdoor, OOH, print, and email.
What is AxeBlock EDIT?
Real-time MIDI editor for the Fractal Axe-Fx II and III. Runs on iPad today, with Android forthcoming — wired over USB-C (Axe-Fx III) or wirelessly via Bluetooth MIDI (WIDI adapter, both II and III). Control presets, scenes, every block, and the routing grid. Edits happen live in the edit buffer; nothing writes to a stored preset until you hit Save. Public beta via TestFlight; $9.99 at App Store launch. Apply at bloodyfingersoftware.com/axe-block-edit.
Does AxeBlock EDIT run on iPhone?
Not today — the shipping beta is iPad-only, because the real-time editing grid is built for the iPad's screen. You'll need an iPad running iPadOS to join the beta or run the app right now. An Android build is forthcoming; if you'd test on an Android phone or tablet, sign the beta agreement, pick Android, and check your devices — that's what tells us which hardware to build against.
Does AxeBlock EDIT work with the FM9?
Not yet — the FM9 isn't a claimed unit, so we don't promise FM9 support as shipped. It's in the compatibility program, and it's the closest of the unclaimed units: field captures show the FM9 speaking the same read dialect as the Axe-Fx III. If you own one, running the Fractal Unit ID capture at bloodyfingersoftware.com/axe-block-edit/fractal-unit-id is what puts your unit on the supported path — it connects over USB on a Mac or Windows computer and reads the unit only; it physically can't change, save, or write anything on it. Every capture helps, and we're grateful for it.
Why won't my FM3 connect over USB?
The FM3 is not a USB-MIDI device on any platform — that's Fractal's hardware design, not a bug. Its USB port only talks to Fractal-Bot and FM3-Edit, so no MIDI app can control an FM3 over USB. All MIDI control goes through the FM3's 5-pin DIN ports: use a wired MIDI interface (the Roland UM-ONE mk2 works well) or a Bluetooth MIDI adapter like the CME WIDI Master. The FM3 is in the compatibility program. If you own one, running the Fractal Unit ID capture at bloodyfingersoftware.com/axe-block-edit/fractal-unit-id is how your unit gets on the supported path — it reads the unit only and physically can't change, save, or write anything on it. We're grateful to every owner who sends one.
Which Fractal units does AxeBlock EDIT support?
The Axe-Fx III is the fully supported unit — deep, real-time block editing, connected by USB-C straight into the iPad. The Axe-Fx II family (II, MkII, XL, XL+) gets preset and live performance controls; on iPad the II connects by Bluetooth MIDI (WIDI adapter) only — never USB, because the II's USB needs desktop driver help an iPad can't provide. Every other unit — FM3, FM9, AX8, FX8, VP4, AM4, Standard, Ultra — is in the compatibility program. If you own one, running the Fractal Unit ID capture at bloodyfingersoftware.com/axe-block-edit/fractal-unit-id is how your unit gets on the supported path — it reads the unit only and physically can't change, save, or write anything on it. Every capture helps.
Is AxeBlock EDIT accessible to blind or low-vision players?
Yes — it's built with VoiceOver from day one. Support covers parameter editing (knobs, faders, switches, and selectors — log-taper knobs step musically, so each step actually matches what you hear) plus the tuner's pitch detection and string/tuning selection, with Dynamic Type up to .accessibility2. Grid routing and the preset browser have more limited support today; that work is ongoing. Two blind guitarists gave feedback during the beta. The app also ships an automated accessibility audit in CI, checking contrast and hit-target size on every build.
What do I need to run the Fractal Unit ID tool?
Chrome or Edge on a Mac or Windows computer. Safari and all iPad/iPhone browsers can't run it — Apple's browsers have no Web MIDI, on any iPad browser. On Windows, install Fractal's USB driver first (no driver means no MIDI ports) and close Axe-Edit or Fractal-Bot — Windows MIDI only allows one app at a time. Bluetooth MIDI adapters work with the tool on Mac only — we've tested CME WIDI; Yamaha MD-BT01 and Roland WM-1 are recognized but untested. The tool is read-only by construction — it cannot write, save, or change presets — and nothing is sent to us unless you press Submit.
What is the Fractal capture program?
We confirm every Fractal unit on real hardware before AxeBlock EDIT claims to support it — and we don't own every unit. Owners help by running the Fractal Unit ID tool at bloodyfingersoftware.com/axe-block-edit/fractal-unit-id: it reads your unit in the browser and captures how it answers, which is what puts your unit on the supported path. It's read-only by construction — it cannot change, save, or write anything to your gear — and nothing is sent to us unless you press Submit. If a capture gets stuck, email john@bloodyfingersoftware.com and we'll help. It's an ask, not a product: you're doing unpaid work for the program, and we're grateful for it.
What is AI Cinema?
A browser-based AI video editor for the BYOM era. Premiere-style timeline. Bring your own models (Replicate, Runway, ElevenLabs, Pollinations). Drop in footage, color-grade, render an MP4 client-side via ffmpeg.wasm. Free, MIT-licensed. Source: github.com/shreddykrueger75/ai-cinema. Demo: ai-cinema-red.vercel.app.
Is AI Cinema free?
Yes — free and MIT-licensed. Your only cost is what you spend with the AI providers whose models you bring (your API keys, your accounts).
Is there a Discord?
Yes — the Bloody Finger Software Discord is at discord.gg/RfJmF4dcW5. It's where beta testers, Fractal owners, and Ad Bench users can talk to each other and to John directly. It's new, so it's quiet — early folks get to shape it. Anything that needs a paper trail (account, billing, a bug with your specific unit) is still better by email: john@bloodyfingersoftware.com.
How do I reach a human?
Use the product picker at the top of the support page, or email john@bloodyfingersoftware.com directly. Anything about accounts, billing, bugs, or your specific unit is best sent that way — John reads every message.
What is the Submissive Chicken?
A featured campaign tied to TheAdBench.AI. A cynical, burned-out chicken at a terminal who does whatever you type. Free. Lives at theadbench.ai/chicken.
